Brian Leaker obtained his medical degree in Cardiff and completed his higher medical training in nephrology and General Medicine in North America, Australia and London. He obtained a Doctorate in Medicine in Melbourne and underwent post-doctoral studies at University College, London.  He was previously a consultant nephrologist at the Royal Free Hospital & has an interest in clinical pharmacology and the development of new drugs.  He is the author of over 200 scientific papers and articles. Recent publications include a multi-author publication in the Lancet on the aetiology of inflammation mechanisms in  asthma following a trial with the anti-IL13 antibody tralokinumab & a comparison of the effects of two anti-muscarinic agents on cognitive function and motion sickness - relevant as commonly used treatments for incontinence may predispose to early onset of dementia. In order to undertake independent clinical research he founded two research companies Respiratory Clinical trials Ltd & Nephro-urology clinical trials Ltd. Both companies has a successful track record in the development of new drugs and Devices for pharmaceutical companies. Both companies also hold independent patents and inventions. In 2004 Brian founded the Queen Anne St Medical Centre an indepdent acute hospital with a clinical trials research Unit & laboratory in addition to a range of specialist diagnostic and treatment facilities. The research Unit conducts early phase clinical research in the development of novel drugs for the treatment of asthma allergy and COPD, novel drugs in urology and andrology.
