SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
New Vision University contributes to environmental sustainability through campus-based practices, integration of sustainability into education, and promotion of environmentally responsible behavior. While environmental initiatives are primarily embedded within broader educational and institutional activities, the University supports sustainable resource use, awareness-raising, and the development of sustainability-oriented knowledge and practices.
Key Actions (Targets 7.2, 12.5, 12.8, 13.3, 6.3)
- Use of renewable energy solutions, including solar panels supporting campus energy efficiency – yearly up to 80 tonnes of CO2 emissions at NVU Hospital.
- Support for renewable energy adoption beyond the university, including financing of solar energy solutions through New Vision Leasing.
- Organization of conferences, lectures, and public discussions on sustainability and environmental issues – Sustainability Law, Student Conference on Sustainability.
- Promotion of responsible consumption and sustainable behavior within the university community – Sustainability Policy, Sustainable Procurement Policy, awareness-raising activities.
- Promotion of responsible use of water resources and awareness of sustainable water management practices.
Eco Campus
- Green Area – 80% of NVU’s campus is green, natural area.
- Recycling – plastic, glass and paper waste is collected separately and transported for recycling.
- Sports fields – 5 fields, where students, staff and the local community (upon request) can enjoy sporting activities.
- Clean Water – water fountains and dispensers are located on the campus to ensure access to drinking water and also decrease plastic waste.
- No stigmatization – the campus is fully adapted to the special needs of individuals and is free of stigmatization.
Institutional Case – Impact Beyond Campus – New Vision Leasing for Environmental Sustainability and Renewable Energy
New Vision University contributes to environmental sustainability through its subsidiary company, New Vision Leasing, which supports the adoption of renewable energy solutions in Georgia. The company promotes the use of solar energy by financing the acquisition of solar panels, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises.
By enabling businesses to transition to cleaner energy sources, the initiative supports the reduction of carbon emissions and promotes sustainable energy practices beyond the university campus. In addition to its environmental impact, the model contributes to economic development by increasing access to green technologies and supporting innovation in the energy sector.
Through this approach, New Vision University extends its sustainability impact from education and awareness to practical implementation, contributing to the broader transition toward renewable energy and climate resilience.
